Package|Accessories
The Hephaes come with a nice packaging like others in the DUNU lineup with a generous amount of accessories. They include 10 pairs of silicone eartips, ear guides, leather pouch, and a zipper wallet case. The number of accessories given were definitely nice but the wallet case was kind of tacky looking in my opinion. It looks more like a coin purse for women or something.
Fit|Isolation|Appearance
The Hephaes fit comfortably with no issues. It also had decent isolation. The design was pretty unique with a flamed look to it on the housing. It may be attractive to some but was kind of flashy for me. I'm not fond of flame works in anything including cars so that's purely my opinion, it's unique regardless.
Build|Cable
The build of the Hephaes is remarkable, built like a tank. All metal construction is really nice, but might be too heavy for gym use. I see no issues with it breaking apart or anything. The cable is sturdy with good strain reliefs all around except on the housing. It seems rather small but not too bad.
Sound
The Hephaes are definitely aimed toward bass. Treble is detailed but didn't have much spark to it. Midrange is smooth but the bass can bleed into it a bit. Bass is powerful and plentiful. Overall it has a fun sound with tons of bass that'll please any bassheads out there.
The Verdict
I'd say the Hephaes is a good option for those wanting a fun sound with a lot of bass but not for those wanting a clear, detailed sound. It does what it's intended to very well but there's better all around options for <$100. Overall the tank-like build, fun sound, and nice assortment of accessories should satisfy the general consumer pretty well. It can be purchased @ Frogbeats.
