Package|Accessories
The A161P comes in a packaging that's like the mini version of the Monster Turbine which is very nice. Plenty of accessories is included as well. They include 6 pairs of silicone eartips, cable guides, a shirt clip, TRRS adaptor, headset to PC adaptor, and a clamshell zipper case. It's always nice to see when a company includes generous amount of accessories.
Fit|Isolation|Appearance
The A161P fits very comfortably with no issues at all and can be worn all day. Isolation is very good due small size. The design is easy on the eyes with its black and gold color scheme which gives it an elegant look without being flashy.
Build|Cable
The A161P is built pretty well and feels solid even though it's mostly plastic. I can't imagine it falling apart from general use. The cable is a little thin but still feels sturdy and robust. It has all the proper strain reliefs and should last long under normal use. It also has a single button remote/mic for mobile use.
Sound
The A161P has a very detailed, engaging, and musical sound. Treble is clear and crisp with no harshness at all. Midrange is very detailed and presented well. Bass has decent impact and great quality. Soundstage is average. Overall it reminded me of a more engaging, musical, detailed version of the A151 which is a plus in my book.
The Verdict
For about $100, the A161P is a must have in your IEM collection. It's the best sounding IEM in its price range I've heard to date. I was blown away at first listen and amazed at how good it sounds especially at the price it's selling for. So if you're looking for an exciting, detailed, musical IEM that doesn't cost a fortune, go to MEElec and make an investment that your ears will appreciate.
